Indee's Story

Many people don’t know that I named my food brand, Bougie Soul, after my personality. It’s a playful reflection of how I’ve been described—someone who enjoys the finer things in life, often affectionately called “bougie” by my friends. But it’s also deeply rooted in my spirit, where the elders in my life often referred to me as an “old soul.”

Growing up in Lower Alabama, summers were spent immersed in the rhythms of Southern life: picking and shelling peas, shucking corn, gathering figs, and even plucking feathers from poultry. These were not just chores; they were traditions passed down from generations, teaching me resilience, respect for the land, and an appreciation for the authenticity of Soul Food. These moments have shaped both who I am and the heart of my brand.

Bougie Soul is deeply committed to honoring these roots by using only the freshest, locally-sourced ingredients. Just as my childhood meals were made from the fruits of our labor, every dish we create is infused with the same love and care that comes from fresh produce, quality ingredients, and supporting local farmers and communities. It’s this dedication that ensures every bite not only tastes incredible but also reflects a connection to the land and its people.

Soul Food is a cornerstone of Black culture, a culinary art born from resourcefulness, creativity, and heritage. However, we often see others outside of our community capitalize on these recipes, reaping millions while the creators are left unrecognized. This reality weighs heavily on my heart. Soul Food deserves more—it deserves ownership, respect, and reimagining.

At Bougie Soul, my mission is to reclaim Soul Food and elevate it to the level it has always deserved. Soul Food can absolutely be fine dining—luxurious, refined, and modern—without ever losing the bold flavors, deep history, and comforting essence that make it so beloved. It is time to shift the narrative, to celebrate Soul Food as not only part of our cultural identity but also as a culinary art worthy of admiration in any setting.

So as we move forward, I leave you with this: the ownership of culinary creativity should always honor the creators. Through Bougie Soul, I vow to honor my family and ancestors by preserving the traditions they instilled in me, uplifting the artistry of Soul Food, and serving food that nourishes not just the body, but the spirit—rooted in tradition, elevated for the future, and always made with the freshest ingredients.”

Reheating Instructions

HOW TO REHEAT ROLLS

Our Collard Green Rolls freeze very well, for best results, keep them frozen.

Preheat the Oven or Air Fryer to 375-400 degrees Fahrenheit. For a conventional oven, line a baking sheet with foil and place rolls 1" apart. Cook about 10 minutes, flip, and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes allowing both sides to crisp up!
